Personal Tutors

Our personal tutor programme is a key element of student support offered at the University of Leeds. All students in the School of Medicine are assigned a personal tutor: usually healthcare professionals or academic staff. Personal tutors offer academic and/or pastoral support, signposting and advice regarding a student’s studies, future career or personal life.

Personal tutors also provide support and guidance regarding placements, particularly coming into Year 5 of the MBChB course when students are choosing their specialisms, and if a student experiences any challenges during their time on placement. If a student is struggling, you may wish to recommend their personal tutor as a potential source of support.

While we do not share the names of students’ personal tutors as a baseline, there may be times when a student asks and consents for you to liaise with their personal tutor.
