The School of Medicine, in collaboration with placement providers and students, has developed a dress code for MBChB and Physician Associate students while on clinical placement.

MBChB and PA Dress Code

The key points are around equality and inclusion, particularly around the wearing of head coverings and supporting our students with this in theatres.  We are also keen to promote the availability of disposable sleeves in clinical practice for our students who are unable to be bare below the elbow for religious reasons.

The policy makes it very clear that students should NOT travel to and from placement wearing scrubs.  The policy also clearly states dress code around nail varnish, appropriate footwear and ensuring hair is tied up and off the collar.

The Schools of Medicine and Healthcare, in collaboration with placement providers and students, have developed a dress code for Clinical Undergraduate Programmes covering Audiology, Cardiac Physiology, Medical Ultrasound, Radiography, Midwifery and Nursing - Adult, Child and Mental Health.
